Knots & Rigs Lefty's Loop

When desirable for the fly to have movement at the end of the tippet, it is rigged on a small loop. This knot is easy to tie and retains a substantial percentage of the line's breaking strain.

  1. Step 1 - click to enlarge Step 1. First make an overhand knot configuration in the leader, pass the tag through the eye of the hook, then back through the overhand knot.
  2. Step 2 - click to enlargeStep 2. Wrap the leader and tag togeher from three to five times and pass the tag back through the overhand knot.
  3. Step 3 - click to enlarge Step 3. Pull the knot tight using gentle pressure on the mainline against the loop. Trim the tag.
